College Campus

The College has two campuses: the main campus at 1/A, Ibrahim Sarani, Segunbagicha, Dhaka-1000, and the second campus at 122, Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue, Shahbag, Dhaka-1000.

The departments are well-furnished, fully air-conditioned, and equipped with classrooms, dissection halls, skill labs, laboratories, museums, and a library. Each department has computers with internet access, including Hinari, scanners, OHP, and other audiovisual aids. All lecture rooms feature multimedia-equipped audiovisual setups.

Ibrahim Medical College follows Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) guidelines through lectures, demonstrations, clinical teaching, small group discussions, and problem-based learning. The curriculum is regularly updated to incorporate the latest medical knowledge and technology. Student evaluation includes continuous assessments, practical exams, and written tests to ensure intended learning outcomes. The student-teacher ratio is 1:5.

Achievements of IMC

• Students of IMC secure merit positions and distinctions (Honors) in the professional MBBS examination under the University of Dhaka.
• Many students pursue higher academic courses in universities worldwide, including Bangladesh. Several students have already completed their higher studies in different specialties of medical science.

 Academic Performance

Teaching Hospital of IMC

BIRDEM General Hospital and BIRDEM General Hospital for Mothers and Children are the teaching hospitals of IMC. It is about 750 bedded multidisciplinary Hospital Complex at Shahbagh and Shegunbagicha. It has already earned a national and international reputation as a center of excellence for medical services and research, presently designated as a WHO Collaborating Centre for diabetes and endocrine disorders. The hospital is housed in two magnificent buildings, one is 15 storied & the other is 13 storied. Over 4,168 patients attend the outpatient departments daily. In the in-patient departments, among 750 beds, 30% are free. BIRDEM Academy runs 14 post-graduation courses in different disciplines. Besides postgraduate students, medical students of IMC (Ibrahim Medical College) & internee doctors of IMC are placed in all the departments of BIRDEM.
Following successful completion of the first professional MBBS examination (after 1 ½ years), students (12-15/batch) are placed in different departments/units of BIRDEM General Hospital for a total period of 3 ½ years for clinical training and ward-duties as per the roster suggested by BMDC curriculum. That student and Hospital bed ratio is 1:7.

Library & Skill Lab

The college library on the 6th floor has a collection of more than 6000 textbooks, references, monographs, and 146 titles of journals in various subjects. It provides up-to-date information to students and teachers. It is based on a user-friendly open-stick easy access system. The library reading room can accommodate around 80 students at a time. Students and teachers can also borrow textbooks for use at home.
